As the saying goes, assumptions are the termites of relationships—and for many security practitioners, making certain assumptions in their role could lead to the end of the relationship they have with their organisation.
For those up-and-coming security leaders, this week’s DeMISTIfying Security segment focuses on the top three most dangerous security assumptions and how they can steer clear from them. A common misconception is that only new security professionals make these assumptions, but little do they know that they’re commonly made by seasoned veterans as well, says security expert Raef Meeuwisse.
“You’re constantly trying to take in new information and there are a lot of pitfalls,” Meeuwisse says.
When security professionals try to do everything and be everything, assumptions are typically used as tools and unfortunately, that puts them on a disastrous path.
In the full-length video below, the guys debunk the assumptions and provide guidance. From steering clear of marketing buzz to the impact of misinformation, DeMISTIfying Security hosts Ed Moyle and Raef Meeuwisse point out the security assumptions that could be catastrophic to any security practitioner’s role. Don’t forget to tune in later this month for the companion video that provides pointed and actionable tips that you can apply immediately.
